Anchor-Richey EVS (Emergency Vehicles Services), Inc. is a manufacturer of emergency vehicles and fire apparatus vehicles. In addition to new vehicle construction, Anchor-Richey EVS maintains state-of-the-art repair facilities for many types of fire and rescue apparatus and leads the way in quality, innovation and customer service.

Our business has operated from the same location near Hickory, North Carolina, for more than 25 years. Our 22,000-square-foot facility houses the offices, showroom and parts department, as well as the service, repair, new and apparatus repair fabrication, body repair, paint, and detail shops — almost any emergency, fire and rescue build can be handled from start-to-finish under one roof. The Anchor-Richey EVS team works together to ensure that each job is completed with high-quality parts, materials and expert workmanship.

Matthew Richey, President – Owner

Anchor-Richey Emergency Vehicle Services, Inc. (EVS) is a family-operated business incorporated in 1996 by current owner Matthew Richey and former partner Bill McCormick.

In 1967, Bill left his job as a diesel mechanic to purchase a small truck stop offering service and engine repair. In 1970, he began selling light to heavy trucks as Anchor Truck Sales, in Hickory, NC, where Matthew was hired as a welder and truck mechanic. In 1979, Matthew purchased and leased five road tractors to a local freight company, then started Richey Truck Repair, a diesel maintenance and metal fabrication shop at in Taylorsville, NC, in 1984. The two merged in 1996 to form Anchor-Richey Emergency Vehicle Services, Inc., at our current facility in Taylorsville, NC.

Since 1996, Anchor-Richey EVS, Inc., has provided a service that no one else in the area can compete with — a small to medium fire apparatus builder and emergency apparatus refurb/repair facility that can take almost any job from start to finish, all under one roof.

Our Fabrication and Assembly Shops are led by all the talented employees, all of which has worked with Matthew for more than 10 years each. Everything is fabricated to specifications from flat sheet metal in house. Our shops house 16- and 12-foot press breaks with a 12-and a 10-foot sheer, all types of welding and machining equipment, three overhead cranes to handle jobs of any size and a set of six portable lifts.

The Service Shop provides routine preventative maintenance and major pump and mechanical repairs onsite or at the customer’s facility. Our shop and mobile service trailer are both fully equipped to resolve any issues including emergency calls.

The Body Repair and Paint Division features a state-of-the-art body shop with a spray booth that can accommodate large ladder trucks. Our body technicians use PPG brand paint products, recognize high customer expectations and are experienced in classic vehicle restorations.

Our Parts Department offers most fire/emergency service equipment and is staffed by three full-time parts-and-equipment specialists. Anchor-Richey is also an OEM dealer, so our prices are tough to beat.

The Apparatus Sales Division has more than 31 years of combined experience in the fire/emergency apparatus sales industry. This allows the Anchor-Richey team to offer a complete line of vehicles and equipment that meets our customers’ diverse needs.

The Administrative Office brings every Anchor-Richey EVS division together as one. All accounting, advertising, marketing and organizational duties are performed in-house by our skilled office staff.
